Say hi to our new copywriting intern, Katherine Kermgard!

It’s summer here at Dirigible, and great things are in the works! We’re excited to announce recently brought Katherine onto our team to work with our staff on all things copywriting, design, and content creation-related.

Hi! Tell us about yourself.

Hello! I’m Katherine, a recent graduate of UW-Madison and someone who is, for lack of a better word, obsessed with words.

What makes you excited to join the Dirigible team?

The energy and commitment that everyone on the team exudes.

Give us a window into your professional life so far. What are some of your most formative work gigs and experiences?

My first official writing “gig” was at the Wisconsin Union writing for their blog and newsletter. In the summer, I would sit outside, look at Lake Mendota and type away on my laptop, feeling incredibly lucky to be in such an amazing city. This past year, I worked for both the Democratic Party of Wisconsin and Senator Tammy Baldwin which shaped my outlook on civic engagement and communication more broadly. Words matter!

Any big life experiences other than the work-related ones that you’d like to tell us about?

I’ve been to the west coast of Ireland many times to visit my step-mom’s hometown! I stay on a sheep farm.

Anything else you’d like to tell us about yourself?

I’m passionate about social justice—topics like reproductive justice, LGBTQIA+ rights and racial justice.
